- Grand Fir is a true fir native to the Pacific Northwest. It is a large evergreen with flat needles growing in a single flat plane.
Balsam Fir is a common name used to collectively describe the “True Fir” species. True firs have tiny pockets of resin, or balsam, that occur in their bark. There are about 40 species of true fir growing in the northern hemisphere. True fir grow well in snowy environments because of pointed tops and short stiff branches which enable them to resist breakage due to heavy snow accumulation. There are 7 species of true fir native to western North America, including Grand Fir. The cones are erect and perch at the top of the branches. Most needles are around 1” long and blunt. When removed they leave a circular scar on the branch. The needles are highly aromatic.
Our cold-process soaps are made with wild-herb infused organic oils and steam-distilled wild plant waters. Unfiltered Idaho beeswax and rendered Pine sap provide a firm bar with luxurious lather. Gently scented with high quality essential oils, hand-cut, and uniquely wrapped.
