- Life Everlasting, also known as Sweet Everlasting, is a two-foot annual or biennial species that has numerous small flower heads clustered at the ends of short branches. The bracts of the flowers, which appear in late July through August, are white to yellowish and surround a minute yellow disc flower. The sticky 1 to 3 inch leaves are lance-shaped with “ear lobes” at the base. White wool loosely covers the entire plant. Leaves have a pleasant aromatic smell and an aromatic, slightly bitter, astringent, and agreeable taste. This native herb is widespread in the eastern states and Canada, and has now been found in Western States. This fragrant plant grows primarily in waste areas and along roadsides where is it commonly mistaken for pearly everlasting.
Harvested with precise timing and delicately shade-dried in clean mountain air, our smudges are energized and always fresh.
